March 2013 News

on March 4, 2013

Dear Friends,

For some missionaries explaining what they do is relatively simple.  Not that the work of the ministry is simple, but they are able to describe what they do in a few short sentences.  Some missionaries were called to Uganda to drill wells and provide clean water for the natives.  Others God called to China to open an orphanage and provide care and education for the orphans.  While others were called to Colombia to build schools for the children or vocational ministries for young adults.  If only our call had also been simple to describe.

Just when we thought we had figured it out and defined the ministry God entrusted to us, He began to shift objectives and add new layers.  Early this year we anticipated an increase of international travel, but God quickly closed the doors to India and Nigeria, the missions that were scheduled for this spring, and showed us the mission He has for us this season is in Rockwall.

Eight months ago the Lord called us to begin a prayer initiative to unite pastors and leaders across Christian denominations for one purpose:  Unity!  To step outside of our four walls, come together as one body, and pray for an awakening in our city and region.  We believe that the awakening is not just for the city or county of Rockwall; it is going to impact the nations!  During these eight months we have been faithful to meet on Tuesday morning at the Dayspring Chapel for one hour and are beginning to see the fruit of our commitment to prayer.

The Lord has also prompted us to open up our house for Encounter Meetings.  The number one purpose of these meetings is to have an encounter with the Lover of our soul and draw closer to Him. We just want to worship Him and soak in His sweet presence.  The second purpose for these meetings is to raise up leaders and start new fires.  Yes, God has called us to be fire starters!  We are to equip and raise up a new breed of revivalist with a passion to see the Kingdom of God extended and demonstrated in the community, workplace and anywhere the Lord leads them.  We are to prepare and empower these agents of change, and send them out to start new fires!  One word says it best Multiplication!  We want to see a move of the Holy Spirit spread like a wild fire that cannot be contained across this city, this nation and the far ends of the earth!

In addition, the Lord has been stirring us to start having outdoor worship and prayer events.  The purpose of these events is no different.  Our desire is to draw the church body together to seek His face regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, economic background, or church affiliation.  If we can agree that Jesus is the Son of God born of a virgin, died on the cross for our sins, was resurrected and is now seated at the right hand of the Father, then we can worship together.  We want to see young and old, men and women, rich and poor, Baptist, Pentecostal, Church of Christ, Lutheran, and so on, uniting as one.  Jesus said it best in John 17:20-23, I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who willbelieve in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.  Ultimately the vision is to establish a local House of Prayer.  A secret place (Psalms 91:1 and Matthew 6:6) believers of all walks of life can come to and seek Him away from the distractions of the world.

Finally, another new layer the Lord has added to our ministry is the fight against human trafficking.  A year and a half ago the Lord divinely interrupted our lives with the cruel realities of human trafficking.  Since then our eyes have been opened to the fastest growing organized crime in the world; the sale of human beings, Gods children, for forced labor and/or sexual exploitation.  We have learned that this is not only happening abroad but right here in our own backyards.  The purpose of this part of our ministry can be summarized in Proverbs 31:9, Speak out for the poor and helpless and see that they get justice and Luke 4:18, The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed;.  He has called us to be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves and see that they get justice, healing and restoration.  We look forward to sharing more information about this new part of our ministry in the near future.

As you can see there is a lot going on at Kingdom Gravity!  There is never a dull moment.  We are very excited for all that God is doing and would like to ask you to commit to praying for us.  Pray for supernatural wisdom, discernment, revelation, direction, protection, divine connections, open doors, resources and provision to accomplish the assignments He has entrusted to us.

We couldnt do what we do without your faithful support and prayers.  Thank you!

With love,

Tom & Lyly Ledbetter

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV

Upcoming Mission Trips

Fighting Human Trafficking in Moldova

Once again Lyly is planning to partner up with Rescue Her to bring healing and hope to survivors of sex trafficking in the world’s #1 trafficking source nation, Moldova.  Her recent trip to Cambodia was life changing and has only fueled her passion to see the captives set free.  Unlike Cambodia, where most of the children are sold into sex slavery by their parents, in Moldova, many young girls (mostly teenagers) are either kidnapped or lured by professional men and women promising lucrative jobs in other countries and then sold to brothel owners.

Since 1991, over 450,000 girls have gone missing from Moldova, Europes poorest nation. This is largely due to their high numbers of orphans; all of whom are cast out of orphanages at age 16. With no place to go and no skills to get hired, they wind up on the streets where girls are taken by Russian or Turkish mafia to be brutally exploited through sex trafficking. Most will not live to see their 30th birthday.  Having a simple skill can save a girls life. Learning a basic trade that many might consider a hobby is a huge advantage for them when they graduate from their orphanage or transition home.

On this trip, June 22nd-29th, the missions team will spend time in the transition homes teaching and training girls life-skills and marketable skills that will set them up for a successful future. Skills such as, but not limited to: jewelry making, sewing, knitting scarves and hats.  In addition the team will hold meetings for teen girls and women to minister to them about self-esteem, their value and God given destiny.

If you would like to make a financial contribution toward this mission trip you may give online at www.kingdomgravityministries.org or mail a check to Kingdom Gravity Ministries at PO Box 415, Rockwall, TX 75087.  Thank you!
